"Daisy Pulls It Off" by Denise Deegan (4-7 Oct 2023)

Poster

As soon as I read Daisy Pulls It Off, I felt fairly certain it was a good choice for St Michael’s Players; I suspected that a large number of the acting members would jump at the chance to wear gymslips and act like teenagers. And so it has proved. Indeed, one person’s enthusiasm for donning women’s clothing has been revelatory.

The list of people to thank is much too long for this missive, but I will mention that this is essentially Bryony Wilman’s production, as it wouldn’t have happened without her experience, patience, hard work and handiwork.  I’d like to highlight the contribution of Sue Shorter, who was a marvellous Mademoiselle until a nasty accident dispatched her to the San.

Kudos and boundless respect go to Sue and Christine, St Michael’s Players’ indefatigable and unflappable house elves. Also special thanks to Rachel for gallantly taking the reins whenever necessary and Arabella, who conducted (see what I did there….) the train design activities. And of course, we are all grateful for the sacrifice made by Luna, Harry and Aaron in lending us our very own Daisy.

Our offering is intended primarily to entertain, and we hope that you’ll enjoy joining us in Daisy’s Upper Fourth adventures. But there’s a serious theme here too. We have a collective responsibility to help those around us reach their full potential. So, when we wake up tomorrow, let’s resolve to see the good in the people we meet, even prickly pears. And let’s remember to …. play hard, play up and play the game!
